PLASTER
Not a subject that comes up very often. But when my dear friend EUCLIDES PAGAN purchased a business that casts and restores moldings, I soon learned how interesting this simple, traditional material is.
Historically speaking, plaster dates back centuries before the Egyptian Temples. By following plaster artifacts you can track the evolution of architectural history right up to modern times.
It is a nontoxic, fire-resistant, durable, low maintenance material. It is not subject to shrinkage and expansion. And it sets quickly without need of any additional equipment. Plaster's smart, clean qualities lured me into a casting frenzy.
These following pages show the elements that made it into my home. This section only talks about them as individual pieces. Future sections will show you how they are produced step by step & finally used decoratively. Included are the width, height, and depth measurements.
