THE KITCHEN FlOOR

This was the most difficult of all the projects I took on. Upon moving into my apartment, there was no floor in the kitchen, just a sub floor of sorts. So I started peeling off layers. There were many generations of style. Each showing the personality of the people who lived in the apartment before. Below is what was cut around my kitchen sink and you can see how many layers of flooring there was. The last of tiles, which was really the first of them, was the most difficult of all to remove. Boy they really made things to stick in those days.

After getting it all up there was gluey looking wood staring back at me. Through the residue I could see beautiful wood grain striving to show its glory. So I went and found myself a hunk.

HELPFUL HINT:
While having any hunk around can be motivating,
one with sanding skills is preferred.

While he is sanding the floor you dream about varnishing.
